I’m busy. And this is not supposed to be the very busy time, that is still coming, this is just the busy time. Being busy means that i am also tired.

My office, car and room are all a mess, a variety of papers, clothes and rubbish have invaded anyplace that may have attempted to stay clean.
I did put all my supplier’s price lists into a folder that I can easily reach, it is very handy and long over due.

I’ve been kept waiting by a few supplies, mainly the one that does all my proof booklets, I have been waiting formsome since mid January, which is a bit too long to be waiting in my opinion. I have been told te will arrive today.

I’m almost uptodate with all my weddings, I only have one more to send off to be proofed, then I start ont hem all again with Album designs, reprint orders ect, but looking ahead, lots of those things will start to come in when i’m in Melbourne, which is not a great thing. I tried to do work on weddings last ear while I was in melbourne and failed, I will have to try harder this year as there is now 10 times the amount of work to be done as there was last year.
I’ve changed how I do weddings now, attempting to cut down on time. I really have to cut back on how many photos I take. It is just a bit lazy with the digital camera. I am also processing the images a bit differently, I used to do quick adjustments on the proof images then send them away, now I do a complete back up of the unmodified images, then spend time on those images getting them to print quality then save them. These images then get converted in to proofs and area ble to be just grabbed and sent tot he lab for reprints ect.

I’m also in he process of working out a new pricing structure for my weddings, I’ll be adding a very basic album where it is just the same size images on each page, no design work involved and minimal print production time. Then you can upgrade that to an all design album or the same size. Then a larger album and more things….

I must go sleep now, big day ahead. have to get my exhibition in the post to Sydney.. It’s all coming around too quickly! I have to work on an invitation list for the Melbourne opening now… too many people to invite… and too many to remember to invite.

Bat on Telle

Being Filmed and interviewed is somthing I have to work on… the filming part is OK, I just have to work on the answering questions part. I don’t think alot and when someone asks questions I have problems thinking of good things to say… I do think of them about 3 hours later, just not when they are needed.

I was being interviewed for the local ABC program “Stateline” and I was taking photos of a comedian and friend, Andy Muirhead as the thing for them to take some footage off to splice with the talky stuff. We did find things to talk about and we then had to repeat them alot.

Things to look out for are1: the Lenny Henry story I just learnt about from Andy, which is a bit of a twisted version of events that I quite like, but I can’t tell it the same way Andy does so I’m keeping to the truth. 2: I forgot to take off my lens cap and then had to repeat it about 3 times and still have the same stupid expressiona nd say “shut up” to Andy. 3: I didn’t use a mono pod in the first take, and then couldn’t use it for the rest of them, so the photos turned out blurry. 4: listen out for the train, there was lots of train action happening and the sound guy was shaking his head alot. 5: my sunglasses, if you see them let me know.

I think it will be good, Andy said some nice things about me and I said some semi intelligible things about me. I’m sure it will cut together nicely. No idea when it will be on just yet, they are going to film some of the Melbourne Exhibition so it will be mid April at the earliest.

General Update On Stuff

Well, my exhibition prints are all done and at the framer. I can’t believe it’s only 2 and a bit weeks till the Sydney part opens. It’s good to be doing somthing in Sydney a place where I have never shown any works, and also good that the space is free.
Melbourne is coming along slowly. There is quite a bit to still be done and I really have to concertrait on it to get the most out of it.
Time management is a problem for me, I have a bit of work on, i’m sure I could make it go away quicker, but I think i’m stuck in a place where if I spread the work out I feal bussier. Have to condence, if I do that I get more time to work on other projects.
Finances will be vert strained the next few months… and probably will be all year. Impuls purchases will be reduced to nothing… I tihnk my last impulsive purchase of a ticket to the UK was a bit too much.

A wedding is resizing to go off to the printers in the background, I have My Friend The Chocolate Cake on in the background, i’m also copying files from flash cards… i’m tired.. I should sleep now.

Media Week

What a interesting news week, there was a nice feature story about me and the time I spent working for the Launceston Uni taking photos of cadavers. There was a little in there about by past achievements and a bit about what I’m doing now and planning, but mostly about the cadavers. Photo was OK, on standard for what I’d expect my better photo ideas were shot and left of the scrap heap by a photo editor who understands that photography for the masses doesn’t have to be good.

Most interesting thing about the articles was the fact hat I was described as a “Nuggety Fellow”.

I did some research into “nuggety”.

Google has about 6,000 pages for nuggety. (0.19 seconds) (This, if you are a googlewhacker, does not come up as a real word). Generally a lot of stuff about nuggets and rocks and other geological stuff.

The Encarta Dictionary describes it as:

nug·get·y

adjective

1. occurring as nuggets: occurring as nuggets

2. Australia, New Zealand broad and strong-looking: having a broad and strong-looking physique, and usually short in stature ( informal)

If being Nuggety isn’t enough, The Mercury gave me another surprise on Wednesday.

I reviecved a text message from a friend saying “I’m watching you”, had no idea why, so I sent one back, and he then sent one saying “we are supposed to watch you”. He then mentioned page 16 of the Mercury. I went and had a look and apparently I’m one of Tassie’s Top Ten To Watch in 2005. This is kinda nice… if you like stalkers. My mum liked it, but then again, she’s been keeping a close eye on me for years now.

And then I got an email from a friend who works at the ABC saying

I just overheard a bunch of wannabe journos talking outside my office about how good Alan Moyle’s photography is … (right before they talked about how much they enjoyed Desperate Housewives last night)”

Straight after that I received an phone call from the TV programe Stateline requesting to do a story on me! I’ll have to go study Austin Powers again, as that’s what the people want these days, bit of a show while the photos are being taken!

Must run now, for I have to keep moving to keep my watchers happy.
