They may have the ashes.
But im taking out 11 pounds that I won on the National Lottery.
Granted, not a fair swap, but it’s ok as they are just looking after out trophy.

Im in the airport, feeling quite tired, im trying to adjust to Australian time now. it’s 8.30pm here and about 2.30am in Aus. So ill get on the plane and try to go straight to sleep.

I’m in terminal 4 at Heathrow, now the most exciting place. Wish i was in the big terminal,

OK, i have to go, boarding call has been made.

Leaving…
Last day in London.

Managed spend alot of time walking about aimlessly and then discovering ive been walking for 3 hours.
I’ve been into a few shops, not alot, but the ones i tend to go into i spend on average an hour looking about.
Lots ot things i didnt do, like the London Eye, inside any famous buildings, see a gang of kids do a chimy sweep dance routine.

Well, i’m running out of time, i’m going to spend my last day here doing a colaboration with Howard (www.howardread.com) which should be brilliant.

Cricket Cricket Cricket

London is obsessed. Everywhere I go cricket is on TVs and crowds of people are watching.

It looks like England have the ashes. Probably not a good time to be an Australian in London.

My friend Benny is responsible for my new found enjoyment of cricket. And he will be proud to know that I have passed that onto Howard. He has been trying to do some work, but I have been watching the cricket and he managed to get entranced by it too. I have a bet with him for 2 shiny silver 50p pieces.

I felt like a spy yesterday, I went up into Regent Park, where a few thousand cricket fans were drinking and watching the match on a big screen. There were a lot more English than Australians, by about 50:1. I kept quiet and moved through the crowd.

Spent some time today walking around Brick Lane, an arty alternative area to the east of central London. It was very cool. I spent over an hour in a shop talking to the Italian guy who makes great coffee and sells really cool things. I also talked to an old guy outside his junk shop. I have photos of both these guys and will post them soon.

Starbucks are ripping me off with their wireless internet prices and crap coffee.

Maybe Ill do the London eye tomorrow. I’m off to meet up with Phil Stevens now. Then to back up some files onto my Ipod.

Also, what do you think of this photo? Yes, im talking to you with the eyes who is reading this, go on, it s not that hard to leave a comment and i really want to know what you think.

I’m in London Still….

Well, im in a starbucks, near Buckingham Palace… the weather looks ok (Come on Aus… you can do it).

I’ve taken a few photos, i seem to end up at the London Eye avery day, today I might go on it.

Managed to see the National Portrait Gallery, the Tate Modern and also some photography exhibitons by Helena Christiansen (50% not to my likeing, 50% to my liking) and Bryan Adams (Quite nice).

It’s been quite warm, about 27 degrees the last few days. Today is a bit better, some clouds.

Well, i’ve done alot of walking, seen a few things and made notes, i keep saying that i ll write up a big blog entry and then upload it when i get to starbucks (evil place that has expensive wireless). I never get around to doing it. I will try to tomorrow.

Road Trip… in a minute or two.

A Castle

Well, I’m back in Edinburgh after driving about 920 miles (1480km) around the west, and central north of Scotland. From the amazing island of Skye, for 2 nights, which included things such as sitting on a beach watching seals (no otters), Iron age forts and climbing up a large hill (well, it was a sheep paddock) to discover the place we were looking for was where we parked the car.

On to places like Elian Donan castle (see Highlander), small fishing villages and some of the most spectacular mountain scenery I’ve been too. A great little hostel that is on a beach with sands and water like the East coast of Tasmania, to a castle that is what you think when you think of Scotland. Then to a castle, full of antiques and history and an amazing garden. And then onto to wrap up the day spent the night in a castle on the east coast of Scotland.

Today included a rather cheesy and crappy Loch Ness monster experience followed by a trip to a wildlife park to see an otter and other critters.

So tomorrow… London calling…

Part of a Castle

Post Festival

It was nice yesterday, to just wake up and not have to be anywhere. So I slacked about and generally packed my stuff. Then I decided to go see a castle, Edinburgh Castle, the big one on the hill (or extinct volcano if you want to be picky). Nice and old, lots of photo ops spoilt by tourists, but a lot of good opportunities for photo ops including tourists. I spent about 3 hours looking about, taking some photos and listening to the audio tour.

Then back to get out of the flat and into Jemma s. Once I got settled, did some washing and we started to organise our plans for the road trip about the north. Heading off tomorrow to the Isle of Skye for 2 nights, then up to a beach on the north east of the mainland Scotland and then to a castle which is a backpackers for the last night. The plan is to see Otters, Puffins, some nice mountains and castles and generally have a good look about.

Anyway, after the planning I went for a walk to take some more photos and happened to walk past a Franz Ferdinand concert, with people out the frond selling tickets, the support band was on, and the ticket was for face value (the guy just wanted to go to bed and was already in trouble with his wife!) So I bought it and went to the show, it was good to see them, I thought that the Scot crowd would really lap them up, they were a bit unvocal. It was visually spectacular, a super screen playing some black and white still images and also live footage from the stage. It was in Princess Park, which is just under the castle and was very picturesque.

In other developments, Lost has started here just as I arrived. When I was flying up to Edinburgh I was reading one of the trashy papers and it was the morning after the first episodes had aired. The paper gave away about 5 different things that you learn through the series. I caught an episode on TV tonight that I missed, so that was good.

Anyway, early morning tomorrow to go pick up my Ford Ka.
