Lucky Weather

Tasmanian weather is always unpredictable, and the day of Scott and Trish’s wedding was no different. It was sunny, raining, windy, overcast, warm and cold. All these conditions changed at various times throughout the day and there was no predictability.

I spent some time with Scott at the beach were he went for a surf in the morning and then some time back in Hobart where Trish was getting her hair and make up done. Trish dropped intoa florist on the way to the hairdresser and asked for a bouquet to be made up, surprising the florist with the fact it was to be her wedding bouquet for that afternoon!

The wedding took place down South Arm way, about half an hour out of Hobart. It’s a great location with a nice beach and Betsey Island in the background. Trish had to teach her dad how to drive her old Mercedes, which was Trish’s first car and still going strong. Trish and her dad were walked down the track to the beach accompanied by a piper.

Scott and his best dog were waiting on the beach with about 40 family and friends. The dog (I’ll remember his name soon!) had the rings tied to his collar and did his job perfectly. The signing of the register took a little longer than expected as one of their friends sang Trish’s favourite song, so the couple just enjoyed that for a few minutes before signing the paperwork.

Some more shots were taken about the area, which has some amazing locations with sandstone cliffs and fierce looking seas! Then off to Scott and Trish’s place for a reception in a marquee in the garden.

They are heading off to Vietnam for a bit of a honeymoon!

Camera, Camera, Camera, Camera (repeat!)

I don’t’ think I’ve had a wedding where the couple was photographed so much. It seems that Renee’s family likes to take a photo or 100! It was a great day starting off with Bacon and eggs on the BBQ, Nathan’s best man was stuck in Port Headland due to a cyclone and couldn’t get out, so there was some shuffling of the guys and all the roles were filled.

Renee had her 4 sisters as attendants and they were all ready a good hour before they were due to leave! The wedding was held at Renne’s family church in Kingston
Nathan only realised after the ceremony that they had put the ring on the wrong hand!We then heading off towards Peppermint Bay for some photos and the reception.

We stopped at a beach and an apple packing shed for photos, the apple shed is my favourite location of the year! We had perfect conditions, great clouds and nice light, and the photos are really different! I managed to get Renee and Nathan away from the group for some time to themselves where we also managed to get some fun and loving shots!

It was great to see the cake too! Renee’s sister Monica made it, and I wish I was there to eat some of it!

Good Luck to Renne and Nathan in sorting out all those photos when they return from the UK!

Matt Boden

A promising young musician, who will most likely be playing piano until he dies!. I’ve known Matt for quite a few years but this was the first time I’ve taken promo shots for him. Shot down at Salamanca early one Sunday morning, they will eventually be used for press shots and posters… maybe. It’s great to get some good shots, Matt was actually in a wedding I did recently and is quite photogenic in a goofy kind of way!

Matt has been playing piano since he was 9 and had played in Germany and China, he is about to relocate over to Paris to see if Paris people like piano.

Bhoy in Tas

Danny Bhoy breezed through Tasmania and I got a chance to grab some shots of him backstage after his tech run. All shot in the Princess Theatre, which is conveniently located across the road from my office. I’ve shot some of Danny’s marketing images over the last few years, including his current show poster and upcoming DVD cover.

It was a great show too, i reccomend checking it out if he is in your part of the world soon.

Ruins and a Wedding!

Nikki and Ben had big plans, a wedding in Rome, but due to some parent concerns of traveling so far, they settled on Australia’s most popular ruins at Port Arthur. They were married in the ruins of the convict church with their all their family and friends who had traveled from the mainland to be there.

The photo locations were abound different parts of the site, the grounds keeper gave us a lift and then gave us permission to “jump some fences” to get to some great spots that are normally out of bounds. We arrived outside the penatentary and waved good bye to out unexpected lift, a minute later, the heavens opened up and dumped five minutes of soaking rain. There was only one place to run to, a little woodern hut about 50 meters from where we were… we were all quite wet! But when the rain let up we got some great shots with the hut!
