Veronica and Rob

Veronica and I were at the same high school together and it was great to get the call to come and shoot her wedding. I always like meeting people from the past and finding out what they are up to and meeting the person they are madly in love with. Rob and Veronica are great together and that all came out on the wedding day. The girls got ready in town, (very early, I’ve never stated at wedding at 7am before!) And then I was off to the guys where they had assembled at James, the best mans house just out of Hagley.

The ceremony itself was in a cute church out in the country past Cressy, this church was so small that there were more guest sitting outside than inside, luckily the sun was out and the chill of a Tasmanian autumn had not really hit yet.

The guys had a bit of fun with Rob’s shows to with the old classic “Help me” written on the sole of his shoes!

From there we all headed to Clarendon, via Veronica’s Little Grannies house for a drink and some photos. Clarendon is really a great spot for a wedding, nice gardens and a fantastic area for a sit down meal.

Kimmy and Clint

Clint had the pleasure (?) of living with my brother when he first moved out of home, I remember he had (and still has) a cat called Carlos who has the personality of a mob boss! Anyway, back to the wedding, Clint and Kimberley are another great pairing, and produced a great wedding all held at Clarendon.

Kimberley and the girls got ready at the Country Club, in the same room that Clint and Kimmy had the night that Clint popped the question. I also ran off and had some breakfast with the guys down at Porthole at the seaport.

The ceremony was beautiful with Kimmy walking down the aisle on her dad’s arm over a carpet of rose petals. This was my first Clarendon wedding and the set up was superb, especially the little marquee and bar off to the side!

We took some shots in the gardens and then headed off to the outhouses to get some more causal shots of the bridal party.

I was told way before the wedding about the secret cake toppers, Marge and Homer Simpson all dressed up for their school prom. Absolute classic!

Comedy Festival

3 days is rally not enough time to go to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, especially when there are so many shows on at the same time and they are all worth seeing. In my 3 nights I saw 6 shows, 2 shows a night is all I can handle I’ve tried 3 or 4 shows a night in the past but it really kills the experience for me, I can never remember what the shows were like.

So my recommendations are to go see Sammy J in Cyclone, and Hounds of the Baskervilles. Both really great shows, but I have to also mention Wellington Who, We Are Klang (pictured), Beastly, What Would Batman Do, Andy Muirhead (go the last night, should be a great one!). All the shows I saw were great, and it was good to see shows with people who I’ve seen rising over the last few years and really hitting their marks now.

I managed to work my butt off too, it was the most exhausting time I’ve had in Melbourne since Uni. I was working all morning on wedding albums in my hotel room, followed in the afternoon with shoots, then to some shows to book in the next days shoots. I can’t even remember the plane taking off when I left Melbourne.

So, there will be some new photos up soon, We are Klang, Joise Long, Mark Watson, Phil Nichol, Danny Bhoy, David Smiedt and Ardal O’Hanlon (who I managed to also shoot a quick family portrait with his wift and 3 kids, lots of fun!)

In additions to the comedians I did a baby shoot, which was so much fun and probably te best baby photos I’ve taken, well, my style has een evolving and this I think is my most rewarding shoot. It really captured the happy parents with their baby girl. More on this shoot to come…

2007 Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala

Last night I shot the Gala behind the scenes. A mix of nerves, relief and some strange clowns filled the theater dressing rooms. More photos soon….. The blur is none other than Mr Tim Minchin

VIKASHNI AND I ARE ENGAGED!
I suprised her one morning as she was rushing out the door! She was running late, i asked the question and she said yes! Then late Saturday night driving to Hobart i tricked her into stopping at the Ross Bridge because i wanted to “take some photos’ then when she got out of the car i gave her the ring!

Awards Season Begineth!

The AIPP Tasmanian Photography Awards were held over the weekend down in Hobart.

The results included 4 silver awards in the general category, 1 silver and a silver with distinction in the Wedding Category. In addition to this I was the runner up in the Wedding Category and received the Island Wedding Highest scoring Print (which was a tie between Alice Bennett and me). So a nice weekend away!

Receiving awards for images that have been commissioned is the best fealing, i’m really blessed to have some great client who let me explore many differnt things with my photography. Thanks to Dave Callan, Nick and Mel,  Nathan and Renee, Martin Martini, Tara and Garry for the opportunities to photograph these shots below. They really are some of my current favorite images.
