Off Camera Flash in the Holyman

I got a little inspired today and decided to play with off camera flash, something I haven’t done much of since uni… so i ran around the building and found people to shoot.

Quinny on the Stairs

Nate in the Hall

Dave on the roof.

All shot with one flash held off to the side, kinda fun playing. I might shoot more people next week…

Before and After with the Griffins

I caught up with the griffins last year when Melita and Paul were brewing a little sister for Vaughan. It was supposed to be a pregnancy shoot but that turned into an after thought as we got lots of photos of Vaughan playing and showing all his personality.

He was a little shy at first but by the end of the shoot was showing me all his toys.

Flash forward to and little Ava is now around and full of wonderfully cute baby expressions and being loved by his mum, dad and brother.

Such a cute family, it was heaps of fun photographing them.

Nicholle and Brett with their new Thomas

Thomas has arrived, you may remember the pregnancy shoot I did with Nicholle and Brett a little while ago.

All is going well with the little one, who did a bit of crying, sleeping and other baby things during the shoot.

I’ve always loved this hallway, nice floor, good light. This is the third time i’ve used it including for some pre wedding photos of Nicholle.

I can’t wait for the thank you card to come back, I’ll post the photos from it as soon as it has been sent out… don’t want to spoil the surprise.

Tip For The Week

Don’t drop your keys down an elevator shaft as it will take a week or more to get them back, or you can get them back straight away if you pay the $300 call out charge. I’m glad to have my keys back and have learnt a valuable lesson of not dropping things when i get into a lift. I’m just lucky the lift was being serviced today so i got them back without the call out expense.

Next weeks tip: Don’t drive and pat the cat at the same time…

Doctor Doctor

Initially, Pete and Amanda contacted me they were in Tanzania doing what doctors do in Tanzania, helping out to make the world better for everyone. They were my first skype booking and dropped by in November to meet and have some engagement portraits taken.

I didn’t recognise Pete when he dropped in on Friday to have a chat about his wedding. last time he dropped by he looked like this…

Now he has no mustache, less hair and a pink t-shirt… in fact most of the Groom-al Party had pink t-shirts. As you can probably tell by the photo, we took some photos of the guys before they headed off for the Dove Lake Circuit at Cradle mountain.

The girls were busy getting prettied up at Lemonthyme Lodge, about half an hour away from Cradle. There was a fantastic sound track playing and much fruit cheese and chocolate.

Once everyone was ready to roll, it was down to the ceremony, also at Lemonthyme Lodge. Pete’s school minister traveled down from Victoria for the ceremony along with family and friends from almost every state and some international guests too.

I love this shot, taken before the ceremony of Pete, Amanda’s brother Chris and Grandfather. Just one of those moments that sum up the atmosphere.

After the ceremony Amanda turned into a 4WD bride and we went for a little walk down to the river to some a few shots, which some how turned into a Flash Gordon quote-fest. The river was perfect and provided some much needed shade, i think the interstate guests were amazed at how warm it was.

The reception was decorated with hundreds of candles and the cake had a very Australian theme with gum nut babies as toppers!

Pete and Amanda are heading off to Lord Howe island for a little bit of a break before heading back to Alice Springs to be Dr and Dr Wallis at the hospital there. I think the people of Alice Springs are lucky to have a couple of amazing and fun people as doctors.

Engaging in North Hobart

Kala and Michael are getting married in a couple of months, so it was time to do some engagment photos. We found this fantastic corrogated iron fence just around the corner from the cafe and it provided the perfect light and background.

I’m really looking forward to the wedding, it’s going to be fantastic.. these guys are so in love that the day is going to be pure bliss!

Pug-tacular!

Charlotte and Dan had some shots taken at their soon to be old house. Like always, i asked about pets and such things… which is when the conversation turned to “the girls” Gemma and Nikki, who as you may be able to work out are pugs.

It was my first time working with pugs and it was heaps of fun, they occasionally did what we wanted them to do, especially when there was some treats involved.

Oh and we did manage do get some shots of just Charlotte and Dan without the dogs!
Good luck with the house move!

The Start of Tara Badcock’s Winter / Autumn Collection

V and I ventured out to the the middle of nowhere to catch up with super talented Tasmanian designer / textile artist / all round fantastic person Tara Badcock and her amazing clothing creations. The location is an old abandoned church just up the road from where Tara lives, it’s full of hay and is the best location i’ve been to in a long time.

We took quite a few shots around the church with Gina the dog not wanting to be too far away from his owner Anoushka, our model for the evening. V jumped in and did a fantastic job with the make up and also did a marvelous job of holding some lights, with some help from Tara.

You should head into Coccoon and Two Four Two in Launceston or Love and Clutter in Hobart to buy some of Tara’s fantastic pieces.

Live Adrian

Adrian (old photos…)

A friend of mine needs a little bit of a hand, and i’m hoping all you Melbournites are willing to get behind a good guy in some hard times.

Adrian was one of the first co,medians who let me photograph him for my third year uni folio; i’ll have to dig that one out, and he also rang around and had asked other comedians to pose for me.

Aidzee has done heaps for me…including inspiring me to take heaps of photos, introducing me to people, letting me spend many many many nights in the spare room and most of all for being so generous with his time, energy and knowledge. Plus he is married to the fantastic Benne, what more could you ask for?

So, here is the deal, Adrian need some help and his friends are answering the call. Read on below

2007 + 250 POW Update…

Thanks again to the 80 people who showed up for the presentation, especially the 70 or so who got there in time for the presentation! It was really fantastic to put the show together and review everything i had shot in 2007, and i’m alredy planning the best of 2008 presentation! (By that I mean i’m going to put aside my favourite photos each month to save me many nights of searching every photo I took in a year.)

Special thanks again to Zakk for doing his best with the wine pouring and stuff, Rob for taking some photos of the thing, to Vikashni and Chung Mai for helping with the platters, and to Vikashni again for putting up with me in general (not a small task).

So i guess it’s onto the wedding planning now… just over 3 months to go…
