Things to do this Saturday

1: Go to the Design Centre’s Makers Market at the Design Centre in Launceston. It’s on the corner of Brisbane and Tamar Street. Starts at 10am.

2: While you are there admire my Wife’s nice soft toys and maybe even buy some for a Christmas presents. (The last stall she held in Hobart nearly sold out of her products in the first hour)

3: Also while you are there, congratulate my wife for having a couple of shops in Melbourne wanting to sell her soft toys to the nice folk in Melbourne.

and finally

4: Wonder about what the big things that are coming up at Photobat in the next few months, which involves paint, manual labor and a bar.

Gibbons Wedding

Last weekend I had the pleasure of having a fun time shooting Michael and Georgie’s wedding in Launceston. It’s been a while since I have had a wedding through the Gorge, so I was really excited to be shooting it. It all started with bbq breakfast at Michael’s parents place where I managed to get this cool reflection in the salt and pepper shakers.

Then off to Stillwater to find Georgie and her friends having a very nice looking breakfast. I can’t wait to get back down there for breakfast soon. Of course, the interesting Hen’s night conversations were as good as the food, but a bit more on the risque side!

When we arrived back at Michael’s parents place, it was time to shoot and we got these really great shots in the living room and out on the street in front of the house.

Back in the car and zoomed over to Georgie’s parents place where her and the girls were putting all the final touches on then having some fun shots about the place. These girls cracked me up, there was one set shot they requested, and it involved hiking boots, ugg boots and teva sandals.

Off to the Fairy Dell in the Cataract Gorge for the ceremony.

A good celebrant is like a Boy Scout, always prepared. Barb Youd sets the standard by supplying Aeroguard for the protection of the bride from winged bitey insects.

I loved these kids, just hanging out watching the events and most importantly didn’t disturb the ceremony, unlike those noisy peacocks.

We followed up the ceremony with a bit of horse play on the play equipment

Michael and Georgie spent a heap of time hanging out at the Gorge before they moved off to Bendigo, so these locations have extra special meanings.

Huge thanks again for letting me shoot the day, i’m really wrapped in how the shots came out and when ever you stop sunning yourselves in Thailand I’ll get them to you!

Makers Market this weekend and Vikashni’s new Softies

Vikashni has been busy over the last couple of months comming up with some new designs.  A heap of new stuff will be found on her stall at the Makers Market this Saturday at the Design Centre in Launceston.

This pouch is made from an old Little Golden Book

These mushrooms have been popping up all over the house, and i’m keeping a set for home as they look so good.

Some people have seen my robot pouch, i use it to hold business cards, but you can also put phone and other little bits in them

See below for more information, I know there are going to be a heap of great artists selling their work, including Cat Rabbit, Tara Badcock and i’m sure Suz from Cocoon will have somthing there.  The market promises to have some uniqe items and you don’t have to pay yo get in or see the Design Centre’s collection. I think i’ll be doing some christmas shopping there. SO i’ll see you there on Saturday!

The Egans

A few weeks ago I took the Egan’s out to one of my favoutie photo locations, Tamar Island. It seems that everytime I head out there we always get some really fantastic images.

It was such a pleasent afternoon and such a graet family to not only photograph but spend some time with. A heap of fun!

SOccor (or should that be football) plays a big role in the boys lives so it was good to get the shot with the balls.

Alli and Ben

Last weekend was a huge day on the east coast for Alli and Ben’s wedding. The plan was to head out with the guys surfing in the morning but there was no swell so we ended up in a cafe in Bicheno instead.

Then it was down to Coles Bay to catch up with the girls for some getting ready shots.

As usual, there was a little bit of re decorating so we didn’t get unwanted things in the background, this time we had a well dressed removalist to help.

Back up the road in Bicheno all was set for the wedding, it started a little later than planned due to a double booking at the blow hole. It was a graet ceremony with all the guests on different rocks over looking all the action.

Then, back int he car and down to Coles Bay for a few more shots. It was important to get some water in the shots as the ocean is Ben’s second love and both Alli and Ben have spent large amounts of time in nature so these locatsion were perfect.

Don’t you love the guys “flower”

The girls helping Alli with some sand in her shoes.

The then an amazing sunset down on the jetty outside Freycinet Lodge where the reception was being held. The reception was really grat and the staff at the lodge did an amazing job with looking after everyone.

Ciongratulations again Alli and Ben and thank you for an amazing day, there are so many more photos I could have uploaded, but we will save them for when you get back all tanned from your honeymoon.

Di and Sam

Di and Sam recieved a gift shoot from a friend, thank’s Melita for introducing me to this fantastic couple! As it turned out these guys got engaged in Paris while they were on a holiday. Congratulations!

All these shots are taken about the Battery Point area, which is right near Salamanca and Sam’s new resturaunt Plum. More on that in an upcomming blog post.

It may not look like it but it was also raining a little and quite windy, which letus play with some umbrellas, one of which died immidiatly and the other just survived. I really had a great time shooting these guys, they both have such warn personalities and I can not wait to get down and check out Plum (in Salamanca Square) properly.
