Wendy, Graham and the rest of them…

A few weeks ago V and I headed out to Longford to the happy chef to help celebrate Wendy and Graham’s 40th Wedding anniversary. I basically grew up with this family and spent many night on the farm out at Forth with their giant family ( I say giant because I’m not tall, and these guys are generally very tall). So here is a couple of photos of the family from an impromptu 5 minute shoot on the day, including Matt and Megans dog Jasper, you will be seeing a little more of Matt and Megan as we are shooting their wedding later in the year.

Mr Putt and Mr Putt

This is Tom and his Dad. Tom is a photographer from Melbourne, his Dad (on the left) is his Dad. They dropped in the other day on their way to do the Overland Track. I suggest you check out Tom’s workshops, they are quite good as are his photos.

HUGE!

You may have noticed that the Batblog has been missing some lovin the last few weeks. We should be able to get things back on track now that the bridal expo is done and dusted. I have been taking wedding photos for about 8 years now and this is my first real bridal expo (there was one in St Helens, but that was just a little strange so I’m ignoring it).

As you can see we kept things simple, you would be surprised how much time and effort go into simple. Those prints are 1.2 x 2.4 meters and looked fantastic but were a little interesting to card from one end of the state to the other. Big thanks to Scott and the guys at Think Big Printing for printing some very big prints and also for lending me the van so we could get them down to Hobart. Yes, Zakk and I felt like men this weekend, we loaded a van full of stuff, drove it from one end of the state to the other, ate chips, unpacked the van, talked to people about weddings, repacked the van and then had Matt along with his beard join us for the drive back.

It wasn’t just a Photobat team effort, we also called in the support team, Vikashni came along and gave a hand as well as 8 previous / current wedding clients, two of whom only received their proof book at the expo, two others seeing an album design for the first time at the expo and another four who were just awesome to come along. Alli, Molly, Jason, Cat, Rhys, Jess, Bernie and Georgie, thank you so much for being fantastic and letting others know of your experiences with us.

Some of the stand out performances went to Matt and Zakk who  I was proud to have along. It has been a little bit on the scary side to have “other people” working at Photobat but these guys are as committed as I am to helping people have a fantastic wedding photography experience. My favourite moment was watching Matt surrounded by 6 girls at one time, I think it’s the beard.

We also launched a couple of new products too. The Acrylic Cover proved a crowd pleaser on our new sample album, and we also had our new Every Wedding Album for the last season on show. If you would like to check out these albums give us a call ( 6334  8789 ) and drop around.

So to give a bit of a wrap up of this post, we did manage to book a few weddings on the day and have many more people to catch up with. The most disappointing part of the day was telling some couples that we were not available for their date, it sucks, it’s hard enough to do it via email let alone to someone’s face. We are booking up very fast for this summer and have quite a few soon to be booking couples we know about. So if you would like us to shoot your wedding, your friends wedding, your kids wedding or even your pets wedding, get in touch with us right away.

Thanks again to everyone who dropped by, it was great to see you and if you want us, come and get us!

Bye Bye Laptop

The Laptop has met an untimely death. Storm damage. Window blew open. Rain came in. Laptop was on. I wasn’t in the office. More rain came in. More rain came in. Laptop was still on. More rain came in. Rain stopped. I came in. I swore. It is now in laptop heaven.

So all is kind of on hold. The laptop was the main comminication centre, so email is a little limited at the moment, plus accounting, plus newsletter that had just been written.

So we apologise for any inconveniance and slowness in getting back to you. We havn’t lost anything, just a bit of computer and a heap of time.

On the plus side if you are in Hobart this weekend pop into the Derwent Entertainment Centre and check us out at the Bride Tasmania Wedding Expo. We have somthing new to show you. Tell your friends, family, anyone who is getting, would like to or has a strange fascination with weddings to come and see us!

Jason and Catherine

Jason and Catherine are fun. They had cool cars, strange lady onlookers and a boat. Not just any boat, a boat that the Queen and Princes Di have used!

We met the boys at Jam Packed in the old jam factory for a much deserved breakfast and coffee.

Then off to the girls down at Catherine’s mothers place. So many animals about too, I was very tempted to get everyone with the sheep, but girls on heals and soft ground don’t tent to mix. Still we got some great shots out on the patio. The veil is the one Cat’s mum used in her wedding, slightly altered, but still space for 3 girls under there.

So the cool cars came along and then it was time to do the deed. And a great church too, complete with those strange ladies who hang around out the front and peer inside when they can. After the ceremony there was the traditional “throwing of stuff at the bride and groom” before jumping into those cool cars to head down to Henry Street for some fun photos with everyone all together.

Funniest moment was when I had all the guys lined up and asked then to look a bit mean and hold hands. They started to before I lost it laughing. People seem to do things when asked by a photographer, guys holding hands; I don’t think that happens after about grade 3.

Anyway, the next stage of out trip was onto the Tasmanian Motor Yacht Club’s flagship Egeria. Such a cool way to travel, in a boat to cross the river, takes some photos and makes a big arrival at the Yacht Club with all the guests waving from the balcony.

We were about to leave when we noticed that the sky was looking a little interesting. After another 15 minutes we had the last wedding photos of the 2008/09 season in the bag. Great sky, great people, and a fantastic day to close the season.

Thanks again to Jason and Catherine for a fantastic wedding, so many photo to show you. Hope you are enjoying in Thailand and we look forward to catching you when you back.
