Binalong Bay is an amazing piece of earth and sea. Situated on the East Coast of Tasmania, it’s white sands and orange lichen covered granite boulders are one of my favourite places to shoot. Mix the location with Sara, Dwayne, Ben and Cameron and you are guaranteed to get some amazing photos.

This was this guys 4^th shoot, initially there was the pregnancy session, followed by the Cam as a baby, Cam as a 2 year old and now Cam as a rather feisty little 4 year old. All the other shoots so far have been in Launceston but this time it was time to head East. As one of their favourite family holiday spots it proved to be the perfect location for Cam and Ben to expel a heap of energy, running, jumping and wrestling.

This time we also had the added bonus of having Sara’s dad Adrian down from Canada so we could do some shots of the three generations together. I love generational portraits, it’s so fantastic to see three generations in the one image.

Shon happened to be a couple of years below me at shool, we reconnected briefly at his cousin Clare’s wedding that he happened to be MCing and which we were lucky enough to shoot. Flash forwards a couple of years and Shon and great wife Lisa have bought little Anna into the world. Anna is the first baby i can remember that actually arrived on her due date, so there is some expectations on her being punctual the rest of her life. Anna was a dream little girl to work with, there were a few of those baby tremours but really she was just so sweet the whole shoot. Of course, I have to mention my fantastic assistand on this shoot Sheamus, who managed to get in on the act and displayed some very good dog behaviour.

Shannon and Glen have a couple of cute little girls. Not that I need to tell you that as you can see from the photos below!

I met Jean at a wedding. He was in the band. I then re met him when he was in a wedding and then again when he was in another wedding. Along the way I met Amanda and now we have all got together with their two cute, awesome, fun, beautiful and playful Lira and Leo.

Lira and I had some time for her to show me her bedroom before Leo woke from his nap. She loved showing me all her things and especially showing me photos of all her friends. When Leo decided it was wakey time we spent a heap of time playing in the back yard, with Jean relearning the lesson of “holding a baby above your head just after it has had a drink, never ends well”

There was so much singing, laughing and so many beautiful moments that it was hard to stop shooting and it was certainly sad to say good bye, especially for Lira  who wanted me to watch the wiggles with her.

Ruby is small, furry and very friendly. She is the first fur child of Alex and Jake. During the shoot she pretty much did what ever she wanted including discovering some great things to sniff, balls to chase and other strange four legged furry creatures to look at.

How cool are fairies? It’s been a while since I met one but this one (Charlotte) was pretty fun and cute and as an added bonus she bought along a fairy in training (Ruby)! Add into the mix Mum and Dad (Sarah and Mitch) and you get one really great portrait session. (I’m not even going to mention the leeches that attacked me during the shoot, but lets just say I do alot for my art!)

How cute are these girls? I briefly met Sarah and Lily (the little one) when they come in for their planning session and was super excited about their shoot. When Alan came home that day after the shoot all I wanted to do was grab the camera and have a peak at the photos. Sarah did an amazing job with the colour coordination of the dresses and headbands while the girls all brough their individual personalities and dance moves. There was an intermission in the shoot when the rain came down, giving everyone the chance to down a couple of Freckles before it cleared up and the dancing re commenced.

It’s always great catching up with previous wedding clients, especiall when they bring along their kids.
Abigail was at the wedding, it was also her naming ceremony. Edward is the new kid on the block.
We spent a great morning running about in St George’s Square just avoiding the bad weather that was threatening us from all directions. Abigail has turned into quite the runner and Edward has a very cool serious look about him.

When you get 3 girls and a large paddock together I know there is going to be a bit of exploring. And how awesome are ther girls dressed, if I remember rightly the clothes are grandmother made, so well done Nan on the fantatic clothes!

It is that great time of the year where we are getting some fantastic light at the end of the day. Soft evening light, if I had my way i’d move the trajectory of the earth so that this light was about for more of the day. Not 100% sure how i’ll go about doing it but i’m sure I can get an app on my phone that will do it.

Congratulations again Jim and Bec on the great little tribe you are bringing up!

I haven’t spent a lot of time in Ulverstone. It has always been the town after Devonport and before Burnie. I didn’t realise how great the beach was and how luck Ulverstonians are to have it just there. Launceston is a bit lacking in the beach area, apparently we used to have a couple of good ones but silt has taken care of them, plus who would want to swim in the lower reaches of the Tamar anyway.

I was introduced the beach at Ulverstone by Elise, Jarod, Zack and Sienna who are lucky enough to live within a stone throw of the beach (a good stone thrower, not a girly one like me). I think the beach brings out energy, something in the wind maybe? These kids didn’t stop. Lots of running, jumping, splashing and exploring in the dunes. They were smart and took off their shoes, i still haven’t learnt that me + beach = wet shoes/jeans. But killing a pair of shows was worth it for these guys. Thank again for the really great time and introducing me to your beach, i’m very jealous of it – Alan

I really thought that I had posted this post, even when I had been reminded that I hadn’t. So finally here is a great family portrait session shot down at Inveresk last year at the end of Spring. Jasper is a pretty awesome kid, apparently it’s said of him often. Surely a kid can’t be that awesome? But he is. Gabby was in a rush for this shoot as Jasper had his first wobbly tooth and wanted shots of him before his smile had missing teeth. All in all this was a pretty awesome shoot so much so that I have a Folio Box in the gallery featuring this session. Thanks again you guys for the fun images and great shoot.

It seems to be baby season at the moment, I’m seeing so many bumps getting around town and it’s hard to believe we were in the same boat 12 months ago. Another session type we are shooting in the Natural Light Studio is pregnancy/couple shoots.

It’s a great opportunity to have a great time, get some pampering and get some fantastic images of this really special time. If you wanted to bring along the man in your life it can also be a great experience for him too. This is a great way for him to show his excitement and love (rather than just putting together all the flat pack baby furniture… I’m not that great at doing that).

There are a few different styles we can do in these sessions, unlike the perception out there; it’s not all about getting your gear off. You can if you want to but the majority of sessions we do with expectant mums are fully clothed.

We still are offering the outdoor run around and play sessions for pregnancy, the studio is just a new style. We can even do both on the same day if you like. There will be more from Scott and Daisy soon with the second part of this shoot being shot out in the city.

Clever girl, holding her own drinks now

Nicholle and Brett have a little bit of history with Photobat. Goes way back to 2005 when we did some engagement shots, then the wedding, pregnancy, newborn, and now the whole family with Thomas and Georgia. I think most shoots with these guys have ended up with me having grass stains on my knees, a trait i associate with being a kids photographer. We did everything, climbed trees, checked out a book on ducks, then went and found the ducks down the park, then the obligatory jump on mum and dad followed by some exploring in the bushes. Fun and a little bit on the dirty side. 

This session was as fun as it looks. Madeline first came in just before Charlie arrived, and through some work getting schedules to work we finally had the session. Charlie is a cheeky little dude with some snappy dress sence.

Proof yet again that Winter can be a fantastic time to have a family portrait. Don’t be scared of the weather!

I met up with Clare and Jason a few weeks ago in the dying days of autum to take advantage of some leaves and a little bit of end of season light. Their dog came along and behaved really well… well, as long as we wanted her to run about all over the place, destroy sticks and generally be a dog doing dog things she was fantastic.The peanut in Clare’s belly was also most co-operative. Good luck guys on your soon to be arrived little one, look forward to meeting him/her!

How cute are my girls???

One of the best parts of being a photographer is meeting great people, and Brianna Tim and Annabelle fall squarely into the “glad to met them” basket. Locals who ran off to the big city and then are back to raise their little family. I dare you to not be a little gaga over how cute Annabelle looks in her grey hoodie. Brianna is also a fantastic make up artist, check out her facebook page here and if you are in need of wedding make up give her a call.

Dexter is their neighbour, like to pop over the fence to say hi.

I had such a fantastic time meeting and photographing Brad and Tenille, they are the proud parents of Aya (baby) and Millie (Cute mini puppy). Aya is such a beautiful little girl and full of life. Millie loves Aya as much as her parents, so cute seeing them together. Add in the fantastic home that Brad and Tenille have created and I just know Aya is such a lucky little girl.

Remember Brad and Elisha? If you don’t you should click here. But that is old news now as Willow is on the scene and calling the shots. She’s a bit on the cute side and i’m assured Brad has a shotgun so none of you little boys get any ideas ok.

Josie asked if I could take some photos of her family, of course I said yes as that is what I do. Josie said she wanted somthing a bit different, so I said yes because that is what I do. After finding out a bit more info we settled on a shoot at Sam’s parents place, that was until Sam’s back when crack and we had to postpone the shoot for  a couple of months. Flash forward and the initial plan was overtaken by Josie’s idea for somthing different but really wanted Sam’s dad’s couch in the shot. While thinking of where somewhere different could be I looked out the window and saw my favourite carpark and the idea was born.

These kids are fantastic, all 5 of them! We all played up so much, running, jumping and generally surprising all the people coming back to their cars. Really a whole heap of fun!

Renee and Nathan may look familiar to a few people, you may remember there from this wedding photo. That was years ago and now they have added Lachlan to the family. As per the wedding, standard location was thought about and then dismissed for something unique and a bit more meaningful. Enter Salamanca Market, the biggest and busiest market in Tasmania. So along with a cute 11 month old and 2 adoring parent we also had a few hundred Hobartians and tourists to work with. It was a bit of fun, one point I was walking backwards up the hill into a throng of small tourists who really were more interested in looking side to side at wooden fruit than straight ahead at the rapidlt approaching photographer in reverse mode.

Lachlan was awesome, such a great kid. This is really the best part of my job, hanging out with clients on their wedding days and then coming back and meeting the new additions when they turn up.

Ok, so this is a family portrait but I think you will agree that Max steels the show. He has the fortune to be both cute and adorable. A rare quality! I’ve known Jess since grade 7 where we were in the same class. Flash forward and we bumped into each other at a wedding and I was slightly distracted by the cute baby in her arms. Flash even more forward and Jess and Alister have moved into their new home and I was called on to help get something on the wall for the new family home.

Each year the APPA’s come around, and each year photographers hold their breath and wait for the judges to give their prints a score. I had to hold my breath right till the last minute as all my prints were in the last category to be judged. The brand new family category. I had no idea what to enter, the aim of this category is all about a portrait photographers regular day to day work. No spectacular multiple image photoshop compositions, just straight shots of more domestic commissioned portraits.

The results, 2 Silver with Distinctions for these images. The one of the Bird boys above did nothing at the Tasmanian Awards a month but it’s another one of those shots that I believed in and was really happy that it got up. Sometime you just have to believe in the print, even when it’s been stomped on by a previous judging panel! The one below of Olivia did pick up an award in Tasmania too, so it’s now multi award winning, but i like it because it was just something different that i wanted to try and the first pregnancy shot i’ve picked up an award for.

With the APPA’s gone, it is pretty much the end of award season for another year. That means it’s time to get started on next years prints! Well done to all my photo friends (too many to mention) who seem to all have had a great award season too.

Sid’s a bit cool. I like him heaps. Why? Not only because he has cool parents, who’s wedding I shot a few years back, but also he just has a heap of personality. Big eyes and smiles, that what he has going on. He’s going to be one for the ladies to look out for… that’s my prediction anyway!

5 Silvers for some prints and another silver for a wedding album. The wedding album went on to take out 2010 Tasmanian Wedding Album of the Year. Second time in a row i’ve picked up that one. Very happy about that. I’ll post the wedding album in it’s entirety soon… maybe even make it a slideshow.

Me: YES! This afternoon!

Ok, so there was a bit more chat and tooing and frowing of diaries but essentially we managed to fit it all together on the same day of the call.

Kylie and Trav have been getting shots done of Ava since she was about 10 weeks old, we started with Solomon at 10 days!

So here are some more of Solomon and a few thrown in to keep Ava happy as she is still very much super cute. Watch out for Ava’s smiley shot!

Some of you maybe away that there is a Photographer in Melbourne called Tom. He’s got a nice little studio for his portrait work and a great selection of work in his panoramic landscape gallery. About 10 years ago he got married to Rebecca, since then they added a couple of little rugrats to the family, namely Ella and Oliver. Vikashni and I went over to Melbourne a few weeks ago for a little bit of 10th Anniversary party dinner action and a few days later chased the Putts around the park. Always great to shoot a friend, Tom and I generally spend alot of time talking business but the shoot was all about family. And a great family it is too.

Just after Christmas I was whisked away to a little city called Melbourne. From there it was north to the amazing Boyd Baker House. A stunning venue for a very fun wedding. The wedding setting really made it a modern Australian bush wedding, perfect weather meant that the reception was held outside under the gum trees. Ali did a fantastic job doing many of the small details herself.

It wasn’t hard to shoot these guys and girls, they all looked fantastic and generally cracked each other up all the time. Some of Ali’s friends are serious life long friends, like known each other since they were 6. That is very cool.

One of the highlights include Jon Von Goes, the most entertaining celebrant I’ve had the fortune to see. He made the ceremony fun and did many things to really set the mood for the rest of the day.

The biggest highlight of the day was family. There are some very close bonds in these two families, this was one of the most welcoming weddings I’ve been to.

Congratulations again Adam and Ali and looking forward to meeting your little girl!

A couple of years ago I took a photo of Sara, Dwayne Ben and when she was expecting a baby and then we did some photos when Cameron had arrived. You can see those shots in the batblog post here. Well, about 2 years have passed and as up can see Cam is heading in the right direction!

It’s always fun to catch up a couple of years down the track and update the family photos. This time there was a bit of rough play, lots of jumping, wrestling, and a few head knocks, but nothing too much to worry about. We also hung out in Ben’s new tree house (or as I refer to it “tree mansion”) and also did a bit of jumping (and funny eyes) on the trampoline.

Cameron is at the perfect age, i love photographing 2 year olds. It’s a very cute time of life, the expressions and little things they get up to are worth capturing.

A confession, I did suffer a minor amount of vegetable garden envy during this shoot, their broccoli is doing much better than ours (I.e. not eaten by a bird or ravaged by caterpillars) But on a positive note it’s radish harvesting time tonight, going to be a good salad!

A strange lady came into the office a little while ago and asked if I could take some shots of her two boys. It turns out the strange lady was infact a nice fun lady with a couple of  strange boys. It turns out one of those strange boys was none other than  Zakk the Photobat Production assistant/bridesmaid for hire. We headed down to the sale yards on a very hot day to take some shots and make fun of Zakk’s brother Jervis. Watch out for Zakks handy work in the last photo…

A couple of weeks ago I spent a fun afternoon with Molly and her parents Jack and Kellie. These guys went for a Lifestyle session which gave us heaps of time to take photos around the house, down the street, in the yard and also for a few changes of clothing. Molly was indeed the star of the shoot, but a very fine bit of star power went to Kellie and Jack too!
I like this bee! Way too cute to do any stinging!

A couple of weeks ago I headed up out early on a Saturday to shoot this gourgeous little family portrait. Little Liv was only about 12 weeks old and looking very cute, and if she is anything like her big sister Layla, the cuteness will be contunieing while she keeps growing.

Yes, I still have a thing for shoes, wedding season is nearly here so be expecting even more shoes being blogged soon.

She had so much fun just running around and around and around the curtain! So happy about it!

I was just searching through the Batblog and realised that these guys post didn’t go up! I’m sure Mum Belinda is out there thinking “my boys aren’t good enough for the Batblog, He must hate us”. And it’s not the case at all, this was a challenging shoot, but, as Ben Lee says “That’s the way i like it”. This wasn’t the first time we had met, these boys have such distinct personalities and it is really fun trying to catpure them all in the one photo.

And, while we are at it, let’s chuck into the session the cousins, Dylan, India and Zain. That was also a heap of fu, 6 kids, all in the one shot all looking good. As usual, rising to the challenge (like Rocky) we knocked it off in no time.

And while we are at it, let’s throw in another cousin! Lily won the prize for best 6 month old on the day! Go Lily!

It’s not a bad idea, getting all the family together and getting them all shot at the one time. Infact, we have somthing like that being launched on Monday, our Openday/Cupcake day. 11am – 7pm at Photobat World HQ, Level 3 Holyman House, 52 Brisbane Street. Come along and join the fun!

When I ran my little competition a few weeks ago, Katie was one of the unlucky winners, coming in second. 2nd place isn’t first looser around here so we all drove off to do one of my favourite pregnancy sessions yet (I think i say that every time, but they are all really fun!). These guys are beach people and there was no option about where we would shoot this one. Andy and Katie came and picked me up and we headed off to explore beaches until we found a perfect one for the portrait. After a couple of not quite right beaches, we found a perfect stretch of uninhabited coastline where we could play.

Katie and Andy were so playful with each other, it was really cute to see them bounce off each other, and you can tell they are going to be fun parents. And little unborn Fin has no option, he is going to surf and even if he doesn’t he will be spending a lot of time at the beach!

The light was fading, so all the fun was over… well… it was supposed to be. Sometimes I see a shot that is a little brave. it is winter here so the idea of getting a little wet isn’t that appealing. I asked them “Do you reckon you could sit in the water? Just for a second? Promise it will be worth it!” So the answer was “Yeah… I guess so… Sure!” So i got the guys into position and I got myself into position (Laying down in the wet sand and water, and it was cold) and for 30 seconds we took the final shot and it really was worth it.
Thanks again yaou guys for being awesome, I really can’t wait to meet little Fin in a few weeks.

You may remember when Lucy was just a bump, but now she is a real life little girl. We had a shoot with her when she was 2 weeks old. The first couple of weeks are the best time for newborn shoots, genenrally lots more sleeping going on and you can get some really fantastic shots. I’m not sure what the dogs thought, but the kept looking in the window to see what we were up to.

 Congratulations again Lucy! You have found yourself some very cool parents who I can tell are going to be fantastic to you!

After a couple of postponements (sickness and weather, can’t wait for winter to go away with all it’s germy badness) we finally managed to get Em and Moosa’s engagement shoot done. Of course, this engagement shoot had the added bonus of the very adorable Tilly in attendance to add another layer of cuteness.

Trying to stop taking photos of Tilly was hard but we did managed to get a few shots of just the soon to be weds.

Em is a florist / interior designer and has done flowers for a few wedding and I’m really excited to be shooting the wedding later in the year. It’s also exciting as I’ll be tag teaming the wedding with the talented Belinda Fettke, we will both be shooting the wedding. Going to be a really fantastic day, full of beautiful vibes and beautiful people!

It was so hard to try and figure out what images from this multiple family portrait shoot to put up on the blog. So I decided to put them all up in a video.

These kids are all cousins and the photos were shot up on Greens Beach, right at the tip of the Tamar River north of Launceston. Hope you enjoy the video!

Getting to know people is one of the best things about this job, so driving up to the beach with Katie and Andy was a joy.
This shoot is right up there with the best pregnancy portrait sessions we have done. I can’t wait to post the rest!

Another high flying preview over at the Photobat Facebook Group

I first entered the Australian Professional Photography Awards in 2001, and got nothing. I had no idea what I was doing back then, I had talked to a photographer and sent in what I had. So nothing came of it, the next year I was a bit more on the ball and picked up a couple of awards, and have been getting some ever since.

This year I received the honour of Master of Photography with 1 Gold Bar from The Australian Institute of Professional Photography. I was presented during the awards ceremony in Sydney with a gold bar to be added onto my Masters ribbon.

How this all works is that for every silver award you get one point and ever gold award you get two points. If you receive 5 points with in 4 years you become an Associate, I received this in 2003. The next step is that if you receive 10 additional points within five years you become a Master of Photography, I received this in 2006. From then every additional 10 points gained within 5 years gets you an Gold Bar.

There are so many things that I enjoyed about this shoot. Firstly, how fantastic does the Gorge look. The leaves give such a fantastic amount of colour. Secondly, I don’t know how many times i’ve said how mush I enjoy shooting older families, it’s so much fun. Generally family portraits are taken when kids are small and they hang on the wall till thwir kids are running about. The Overton’s are a fantastic family, there was so much laughter on the shoot, it really shows that they get along very well. Really, a heap of fun all three of them.

 I love the one above, girls and mobiles!

I realy loved the colours in this session, going for the green and black clothing worked fantastically and gave a really fantastic look to the shots.

Thse two had so much personality, they where so much fun to chase around and always ready with a pose!

It really wasw a pleaseure shooting this lot, and I can’t wait to get the canvas’s back as they are going to look really amazing!

A few weeks ago V and I headed out to Longford to the happy chef to help celebrate Wendy and Graham’s 40^th Wedding anniversary. I basically grew up with this family and spent many night on the farm out at Forth with their giant family ( I say giant because I’m not tall, and these guys are generally very tall). So here is a couple of photos of the family from an impromptu 5 minute shoot on the day, including Matt and Megans dog Jasper, you will be seeing a little more of Matt and Megan as we are shooting their wedding later in the year.

This is Tom and his Dad. Tom is a photographer from Melbourne, his Dad (on the left) is his Dad. They dropped in the other day on their way to do the Overland Track. I suggest you check out Tom’s workshops, they are quite good as are his photos.

Then there was a Princess and a Fairy Godmother in the garden.

It is always great to go for a drive in the country, especially when you sot at a cool farm and take photos of an equally cool fmaily. The Scott’s  one of those really nice old farm homes that has been in the family a few generations, really an amazing looking place.

The kids love the trampoline, so we used it for the shots and then released the dogs to play havoc. They say never work with kids and animals, I say mix it together and see what happens!

I thought that one post for the weekend would be fun, i’ll see if I can keep doing these most weekends, it may just be a lot of photos of my wife and the cats. We shall see.

So, 2 portraits this weekend. Doing a little bit of exploring with Jason and Catherine and we discovered this apple tree about 50 meters from the office. It is growing in concrete and lives happily there in between a few building.  Jason and Catherine are getting married in a few months, so we had fun not melting on their engagement shoot.

Sunday was another drive day, the Allen family photoshoot all the way down at The Gardens on  the East Coast.

 The reason for the shoot was Verne’s Birthday, so all the family came together for a party and photo shoot. There will be more photos soon, I just had to post this one of Verne and Nellie, it is such a sweet photo.

 On the way back we had to stop in at the Village Store and More in St Helens for a late breakfast. Vikashni and I ordered different dished from last week and were very happy with the results again. I can not recommend this place more, I just wish it was a little closer.

Last week I mentioned the singing chef, well this time I took his photo. Nick and Marika own and run the place. I purposely didn’t take a photo of Marika so that we have to go back again.

On the way home we were accosted by some duck/geese/winged birds in Avoca. These guys were not afraid about being polite and asking for food, it was more of a demand.

It is not that often that you get two extremely photogenic families, on the one island at the one time. But I was lucky enough to have just what with the Bellchambers and the Williams Families when they were down on their holiday.

 
It seems that we used every spot on the island for the shots, did I mention we had amazing light?

 Thanks again to both families for taking time out of their Tasmanian Adventure to have some photo taken. I hope the prove to be lasting memories of your families and your time in the best state of Australia (yes… it is!)

The Williams family were down on thier joint holiday with the Bellchambers and we all went for a walk out to Tamar Island to do some family shots

 I actually discovered a little bit of the Island that I had overlooked all the times I had been out there. Not only did it have  a little viewing platform, but also a nice little hallway of trees to shoot in.

I’ve always wanted to shoot with this background, and finally got there!

Just before Christmas there was an influx of Queenslanders to the Photobat office. Two families down to have their photos taken (and maybe for a holiday as well, but I rather feal that they came for the photos!). The Bellchambers and Williams families were holidaying together and had a joint session out at the always pretty Tamar Island.

Another shoot from ages ago that got lost in the system. It’s a pity as this shoot was one of my favouties all year. This is seriously the best looking family we shoot all last year. We even wanted to buy damon the dad a shot gun to protect his daughers from boy-kind.

A few weeks ago I headed down Conarra way to shoot the Pengilly family. They live on an amazing farm which I could easily spend many days just sitting on and watching the clouds go past.

I loved the little lamb toy!

this portrait session was won at a ball held by the Clifford Craig Medical Research Trust, a local medical research unit based out of the hospital here in Launceston. They do some amazing research into curing disease that effects the local population as well as many other projects that will change the health and well being of all the world!

The edwards family are growing up and moving out, leaving Col and Jill the tak of downsizing their home. So this shoot was the family portrait to say goodbye to the family home. We shot ont he stpes because all the kids had their first day of school photos on them.

And I had to take a few photos of Col and his other child who is called Harley. Col uses it as his transportation for fishing trips. I like the idea of just picking up the rod, jumping on the bike and zooming off to a nice spot to drop the line in.

Plus, as ususal… the dog shot!

A few weeks ago i caught up with the Marshalls some generational shots. It has been a long time since I had taken a generationa shot that wasn not at a wedding so it was fantastic to get 4 generations in the one shot.

This one kinda got lost in blog world, but it’s here now! We shot little Issac a month or so ago and he was very cute!

Darcey was also very cut and needed some shots with his bone.

And this is one of my favourite hand shots for a long time, i just love the yawn with the other hand.

The Elliot’s have a wall of my photos, starting wight back when William was about 18 months old, up to previous shoot. So since Ben has joined the family it was time for another update.  This time we took photos at their home.

I have a thing for reflections at the moment, I really love this series.

A few weeks ago I took the Egan’s out to one of my favoutie photo locations, Tamar Island. It seems that everytime I head out there we always get some really fantastic images.

It was such a pleasent afternoon and such a graet family to not only photograph but spend some time with. A heap of fun!

SOccor (or should that be football) plays a big role in the boys lives so it was good to get the shot with the balls.

I caught up with Jess and Garth down at the seaport for a bit of a brother sister photo session. Mud supplied some liquid courage to get thing started and then we wandered down to the flood levy taking photos along the way. It is always fantastic to have a good time taking photos and I really enjoyed shooting some different photos in some familiar locations with these guys.

I have a few clients who are clients of Jess. She has the soon to be relocating Hue’s of Colour in Launceston.

I can’t wait to post the rest of this shoot, there are some fantastic shots at one of my favourite locations.

I took this shot of my fellow photographer Tom Putt and his cute son Oliver about 12 months ago. They just ordered a couple of extra prints and I while preparing them I saw this fun cropping.

Pink, isn’t it every little girls favourite colour? Well it seems to be for Georgie and Danika when we did theis really fun family shoot at the museum. I know Scott through BNI and he wanted to have his family shot, so I happily obliged.

The colours woked fantastic in this spot, I love the contrast colours with the door. Plus these girls were little balls of energy, all over the place!

Kaba was feeling overwhelmed by the amount of attention Kooshan gets on the blog and insisted I take his photos. He is a good dog and does not get into too much trouble. Plus he is dam cute, fun to play with and, unlike Kooshan,  has never got up on the sink to search for food.

Some baby are destined to be models, paying up to the camera, looking cute and even making cute noises. Lucky is one of those babies! Any one know a casting agent for Huggies?

When Zoe came in for her pre shoot chat I realised that her husband Simon was a few years above me at school and he was a prefect! Probably told me to pull up my socks a few times.

The poodle Poppy was great to, very photogenic!

 And how could I not take a photo of Poppy,she had to spend most of the shoot outside.

Acouple of weeks ago i had a heap of fun shooting the Birchmore family, especially playing around with the boys Thomas, Harry and William. They each had very distinct personalities and it was fantastic that I managed to capture them all!

These shots were taken for the kid’s grandfather, and taken at the bandstand in city park because it was a favourite spot of their Grandmother

I’m sure you will be hearing more about the Birchmors in the coming months, they are new owners of Pierre’s in Launceston which, from what I’ve been told, will be completely revitalised once the renovations are completed and be a brilliant place to grab a coffee, some food or even have your function in the center of the city.

A couple of weeks ago i returned to my favourite alleyway and did a very fun shoot with the Michael and his kids.

Michael was a former photographer in Launceston and it is very gratifying and humbling to shoot another photographer’s family. It can be a little scary, knowing the person in front of the lens knows what you are doing, but it was just a really enjoyable shoot.

It was so much fun that it was hard to stop everyone laughing at the same time to get a shot done. Thanks again for the great shoot!

I had the great pleasure of shooting little Ava’s first big photo shoot. Kylie and Travis have a beautiful little girl and an equally beautiful home and pets. The nursery was set up son nicely and included this big red chair which we dragged outside so we could get some good light on it.

And how could i not take a few shots of the furry kids. This little collection of animals were so much fun and very friendly The bunny has survived having a stroke and lives in the back yard with the dog, can you believe that!

This is Griffin! You may remember the pregnancy shoot we did with Karina and Jeremy, and the preview posted last week. We had a great time photographing this cute little boy.

Just as were were leaving Giffin gave us a fantastic last shot while over Karina’s shoulder. He just looks so content and loving!

I had the best and unexpected location formy shoot with the Penney family. Initially we had arranged to meet in a park in the city, but at the last minute the location was changed to a big pile of dirt somewhere out the back of Exeter. This wasn’t just any big pile of dirt, it was the Penney’s big pile of dirt. The family is involved in supplying gravel and sand to industries about the state, so it made scense to head up there for the big family portrait.

There were so many people to shoot, kids and adults. We all got very dirty… black really worked to make everyone stand out, but after about half an hour, everything had a white tinge to it!

This give you a little bit of scale of how big the pile of sand is.

Nothing like a dozer as a prop!

And yes, he did take flight!

There was a bunny…

There was a playful puppy…

There was a mischievous kitty…

I caught up with the griffins last year when Melita and Paul were brewing a little sister for Vaughan. It was supposed to be a pregnancy shoot but that turned into an after thought as we got lots of photos of Vaughan playing and showing all his personality.

 He was a little shy at first but by the end of the shoot was showing me all his toys.

Flash forward to and little Ava is now around and full of wonderfully cute baby expressions and being loved by his mum, dad and brother.

Such a cute family, it was heaps of fun photographing them.
